Associated Press
DHAKA, Bangladesh —
The Teesta River broke through an embankment and flooded more than 400 houses and 5,000 acres of cropland in northern Rangpur district, according to published reports.
The English-language daily The New Nation said last week that the swelling river broke part of the flood control embankment Sunday.
The paper reported that nearly 200 families, left homeless by the flooding, sought shelter on high ground.
