A public hearing has been set for Oct. 22 to consider a request for an entertainment permit by Naja’s Place, a restaurant on the International Boardwalk that has been at the center of a dispute between boat owners and restaurateurs over noise in the harbor.
The restaurant lost its entertainment permit in July when the City Council sided with boat owners who charged that bands at the restaurant were playing too loudly and causing a public nuisance. An adjacent establishment, the Harbor Seafood restaurant, was permitted to keep its entertainment after owner William Wan applied soundproofing materials to the walls.
Since July, Ben Zeinaty, owner of Naja’s Place, has bought Harbor Seafood and made it part of Naja’s Place. Zeinaty said this week that he has kept Wan’s soundproofing intact and has applied additional soundproofing to the original restaurant.
