Santa Ana : Plaque Will Honor Italian-Americans
To commemorate Columbus Day and the contributions of Italian-Americans to American history, the city will erect a bronze plaque Oct. 12 at its civic center.
The plaque is being donated by the Orange County American Italian Renaissance Foundation, a nonprofit organization founded in 1981 to preserve the cultural heritage of Italian-Americans.
The plaque’s inscription reads:
“To the people of Orange County of all generations. This plaque is offered in commemoration of the dreams and culture bestowed upon this nation.
“From the first explorer, from each immigrant and from their following generations, some of the most significant chapters in this nation’s achievement of greatness have been contributed by Italians.”
Dedication ceremonies will begin at 11 a.m. near the Santa Ana City Hall at 20 Civic Center Plaza.
