A Pittsburgh coal firm won a contract dispute.

A federal jury in Indiana awarded Carbon County Coal Co. $181 million in damages following its determination that Northern Indiana Public Service had breached a long-term coal supply contract. Northern Indiana had filed suit in April to dissolve the 20-year agreement to buy coal from Carbon County’s Hanna, Wyo., mine. The federal judge hearing the case said he would consider ordering the contract reinstated in lieu of damages.
