Bombs exploded at a Mercedes-Benz dealership in Cologne, West Germany, and at the university Botanical Institute there. A firebomb damaged another store in Hamburg, a day after five bombs set off blazes in six of that city’s department stores. There were no injuries in the blasts. The leftist Revolutionary Cells claimed responsibility for the Cologne attacks and indicated that the target at the university was its Genetic Engineering Institute, which is adjacent to the Botanical Institute.
