The Supreme Court on Monday denied an appeal by six Americans seeking $20 million from the U.S. government after their coffee plantation was taken over under El Salvador’s agrarian reform program.

The U.S. residents, who owned a 4,500-acre plantation called Las Lahas, demanded compensation in a lawsuit charging that the expropriation was a joint operation by the two governments. A lower court had ruled against the landowners.
