South County : Military Flights at Odd Hours Can Be Expected

Those who live and work beneath the flight patterns of the El Toro and Tustin Marine Corps air stations may experience an extra earful of noise beginning today when both bases will hold routine field carrier landing maneuvers.

The takeoff and landing practices will “not so much increase the noise level but (the maneuvers) will just be going on when people aren’t used to them going on,” Sgt. Anne Larson, a public affairs officer at the El Toro base, said Tuesday.

Larson said e that planes will be taking off and landing during the following days and times:

Tustin: from 7 a.m. Friday until 2 a.m. Saturday.

El Toro: today from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and again from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.; from 7 a.m. Thursday through 1 a.m. Friday, and from 9 a.m. Saturday until 1 a.m. Sunday.
