Six candidates completed two days of interviews this week for the job of Pasadena police chief. The interviews, held on Tuesday and Wednesday, were conducted to find a replacement for Robert McGowan, who retired as police chief in June after more than 30 years on the force.
Candidates for the $65,000-a-year job are: Ronald Nelson, Berkeley police chief; Stanley Knee, a Garden Grove police captain; Frank Patchett, a Los Angeles police captain; David Snowden, chief of police in Baldwin Hills, and Donald Hughes and James Robenson, both Pasadena police commanders. Police sources said that 44-year-old Robenson, the city’s highest-ranking black officer, is the favored internal candidate. City Manager Donald McIntyre is expected to make a final selection by the end of this month.
