Chemical Blaze Damages Plant, Triggers Evacuation

PATERSON, N.J. —
An exploding chemical storage drum touched off a fire that damaged a nail polish factory and forced about 150 nearby residents from their homes, officials said Wednesday. About 45 residents remained evacuated from the area around the Kirker Chemical Co., but no serious injuries were reported in the incident Tuesday night.
