Nancy Reagan and Raisa Gorbachev will probably meet at least once when their husbands hold next month’s summit meeting here, Swiss officials said Wednesday.

Provisional programs call for them to sightsee separately in and around Geneva during the Nov. 19-20 summit. Mrs. Gorbachev will tour Lenin’s old haunts in Geneva, while Nancy Reagan’s program may take her to the St. Pierre Cathedral in the Old Town and the Reformers Wall, with its huge statues of Reformation leaders, officials said.

“But they almost certainly will meet up somewhere for a private chat over coffee and cake, perhaps at a cafe in town or on the lake,” a city official said.

Officials said it is possible they will visit the Chateau de Penthes, a country mansion now housing a museum, which is situated close to the U.S. and Soviet diplomatic missions.

Swiss protocol planners said there should be no language problem, since Raisa Gorbachev speaks some English.
