MCI Communications settled a lawsuit with GTE.

MCI said that it had agreed to an out-of-court settlement with GTE Corp. over an antitrust suit that it had filed against GTE and several other telephone companies in 1979. The terms of the settlement were not disclosed. MCI had previously reached settlements with ALLTEL Corp., Continental Telecom, Centel Corp., Lincoln Telephone & Telegraph and US West over similar suits. The suit alleged that American Telephone & Telegraph and its former telephone company subsidiaries, such as US West, as well as a number of independent telephone companies had conspired to restrain trade in the long-distance market.
