Datapoint Corp. reported a $48.3-million loss for its fiscal year ended Sept. 27. “The severe slump plaguing the computer industry, coupled with intensified competition, resulted in a major restructuring of Datapoint in fiscal 1985,” Edward P. Gistaro, president and chief executive, said in a statement. Datapoint also incurred charges totaling $56 million during the year that stemmed from the settlement of a lawsuit and other costs associated with a battle between Datapoint’s former management and a New York investor for control of the company.
