‘Only Earth’
What more profound statement of the need for world peace can be made than that of Prince Sultan ibn Salman al Saud of Saudi Arabia as he participated in the 18th mission of the space shuttle Discovery?
“On the first and second day of the flight we were all noticing our countries, saying ‘That’s my home,’ ” he said. “By the third day, you only see continents. By the fifth day, you see only Earth--it becomes one place, your home.”
I suggest we use the next shot to send President Reagan and Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbechev and some of their advisers to this sobering observation point.
