Bishop Gregory Udicky, Serbian Churchman, Dies
Father Gregory Udicky, bishop of the Serbian Orthodox Church, American Western Diocese, died Wednesday in Alhambra. He was 74.
Born and educated in Yugoslavia, he was ordained in 1936 and came to the United States after World War II, serving parishes in Pennsylvania before coming to Southern California.
Bishop Gregory headed the diocese in California since its inception 22 years ago. The diocese has a membership of about 8,000.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Steven’s Serbian Orthodox Cathedral in Alhambra. Burial will be in the Serbian United Benevolent Society Cemetery in Los Angeles.
