Ollie Proctor, 74, and wife, Lucille Proctor, 68, were surprised at being named Buena Park’s Good Citizens of the Year “just for helping some old people with their gardening,” he said. Part of the award is being grand marshals of the Oct. 19 Silverado Days parade. “We appreciate the honor,” said Ollie, who has lived in the city since 1948 and been retired since 1969, “but we’ve seen too many people sit on their rear ends and get old and stay old.” And for good measure, he warned, “if you don’t use it, you lose it.”
