Hearing Set on Private Club’s Request for Liquor-Sale Permit

Share

A hearing to determine whether a proposed nightclub in Atwater will be permitted to sell liquor is scheduled Tuesday in Los Angeles City Hall. Neighborhood residents and business groups are poised to oppose the club.

The Argentine Assn. of Los Angeles has requested a conditional-use permit to allow sale of alcoholic beverages at what it says will be a private club at 3160 Glendale Blvd.

The association also must get a parking variance for the club, which would have a capacity of 350 patrons, because no off-street parking is available except at a public lot.

The Atwater Homeowners’ Assn. and the Atwater Chamber of Commerce have complained that the club would cause an increase in street crime, noise and parking problems.

The hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. in Room 561-A of City Hall before a city Planning Commission hearing examiner.
