St. Francis Medical Center has been promised a $44,000 grant to help establish a children’s day care center if it raises $88,000 by November, 1986. The board of directors of the Ralph M. Parsons Foundation of Los Angeles recently announced the challenge grant, which is contingent upon the hospital raising double the amount of the grant, said hospital spokesman Judith Lindquist.

The St. Francis Medical Center Foundation has raised more than $45,000 to date for the proposed day care center, which will be located at the Lynwood hospital, said Lindquist, director of public relations. The center will be open to children of hospital employees as well as children from the surrounding community. It will serve children ages 2 1/2 to 6.

The Parsons Foundation has provided grants in the fields of education, social programs and civic and cultural projects since 1961.
