Egyptian Pilots Protest Airliner Interception

Egyptian pilots have protested to the International Federation of Airline Pilots Assns. about the U.S. interception of an Egyptian plane carrying four cruise ship hijackers, a federation official said Thursday.

The federation’s six-member governing body received the formal complaint Wednesday from the Egyptian Airline Pilots Assn. and “is considering what response it will make,” said spokesman Tony Myers.

Myers said the federation is expected to respond by today.

Its options included issuing a letter of complaint to the U.S. government, he said. Before taking such a step, he said, the organization likely would request further details from the Egyptian government of the Oct. 10 incident.
