The United States today imposed a ban on imports of firearms, ammunition and technical arms manuals from South Africa.

The ban, imposed by the Treasury Department’s Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, stems from a U.N. resolution of December, 1984, against arms imports from South Africa, and President Reagan’s partial trade embargo ordered against that country on Sept. 9.
