A Riverside beekeeper was fined $1,830 for violating a state quarantine to prevent the spread of Africanized bees. David Knoefler of MCK & Sons Honey Co. was also placed on three years’ probation after he was found guilty of misdemeanor charges that he removed 240 bee boxes from the Lost Hills area in Kern County, site of the first detected Africanized bee colony in the United States.
