Inflation Systems International, a company that makes small rocket motors and ejection cartridges for jet-fighter pilots, will close its Santa Clarita Valley plant “sometime in the near future,” according to OEA Inc., the Denver company that acquired Inflation Systems on Oct. 10.

Inflation Systems will move to Denver as a subsidiary. The Newhall plant employs 15. Two have already transferred to Denver. The rest have found work elsewhere and are in the process of switching jobs, according to J. E. Banko, senior vice president of OEA.

OEA makes devices similar to those made by Inflation Systems, including pilot-escape systems. The purchase price for Inflation Systems was less than $1 million, Banko said.
