Irvine : City Defers Annexation Request, Seeks Meeting

Share

The Irvine City Council on Tuesday deferred action on a request by the Lake Forest II Master Homeowners Assn. to study the feasibility of annexing the county-governed community.

The council tabled the resolution and directed the city staff to meet with Lake Forest II residents to answer questions regarding public services before the city acts on a proposal to conduct a 90-day study that would cost about $62,000, according to Irvine Assistant City Manager Paul Brady.

The annexation study was requested after a survey of Lake Forest II by the county found that most of the area’s 12,000 residents favor being incorporated into Irvine. Lake Forest is south of Trabuco Road between Bake Parkway and El Toro Road.

Lake Forest II is northwest of Lake Forest I which is also an unincorporated area governed by the county. The two communities are represented by separate homeowners associations.
