Thwarted Theft of Burbank Mayor’s Car Plus for Police

If Burbank police need an ally on City Council, they may head straight for the mayor’s chambers--at least after Wednesday.
Police said they discovered two men trying to break into Mayor Mary Lou Howard’s distinctive car, arresting the men after a chase.
Sgt. Jeff Pratt said an officer spotted the men at 8 p.m. outside Burbank High School, by Howard’s 1985 gold Mercedes. Its license plate reads “MSMAYOR.”
The men fled in their car but were caught a mile away, he said. Pierre Brooks, 19, of Lake View Terrace and Lebaron Seales, 24, of Van Nuys were arrested on suspicion of auto burglary and held in lieu of $2,500 bail, he said.
“I can see that 9% raise coming already,” Pratt joked.
