Four colleges offered sports cars and other improper inducements to Texas A&M; quarterback Kevin Murray before he signed a professional baseball contract in 1982, according to a story published in the Dallas Times Herald.

Murray, who is already under investigation by the NCAA after an accusation that he improperly accepted the use of a car from an A&M; alumnus, told a member of the Milwaukee Brewers’ staff in 1982 that he had been offered a car, gifts and other improper inducements while he was a high school senior, the newspaper reported.

No one from the Brewer organization would name the schools in the memo, but the Times Herald quoted an unnamed source as saying the memo listed Southern Methodist, Oklahoma, Texas A&M; and Texas Christian.
