Conference on Housing Set in Ontario

The second annual Housing Conference will be presented Tuesday in Ontario under joint sponsorship of the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the Inland Empire and Orange County Mortgage Bankers Assns. and the Baldy View, Riverside and Orange County chapters of the Building Industry Assn. of Southern California.

The morning session will focus on the economy and its impact on affordable housing in the coming year and its implications through the decade. It will feature Oscar Wright, state director of small business development, and economist Kenneth Leventhal, president of the Kenneth Leventhal Co.

The luncheon speaker will be Jayne H. Gallagher of HUD. Panel discussions on joint ventures for affordable housing in the afternoon session will highlight the importance of local governments and the private development sector agreeing on practices that will help reduce the overall cost of housing development.

The seminar will be held at the Red Lion Inn, 222 N. Vineyard Ave., with registration beginning at 7:30 a.m. The session is scheduled to conclude at 4 p.m.
