The grand “reopening” of the expanded Montclair Plaza regional shopping mall in Montclair will be held Wednesday, according to a spokeswoman for the Homart Development Co. project.
The renovation is estimated to cost from $20 million to $40 million by redevelopment officials in the San Bernardino County community. It includes more than 80 new retailers, including a food court and a 186,908-square-foot Sears department store. Homart, a unit of Sears, Roebuck & Co., purchased the 1,044,160-square-foot center about two years ago with the intention of expanding it.
A 125,000-square-foot Nordstrom’s department store will open next spring, according to Marianne B. Luce of Montclair Plaza. The architect for the renovation of the 1968 center is the Jerde Partnership, Los Angeles. HCB Contractors is the general contractor.
