Americans in Cult Questioned in Egypt
From Reuters
CAIRO —
Egyptian authorities are holding five Americans, a Frenchman and a Briton, members of a small religious cult, for questioning about proselytizing, Western diplomats said Tuesday.
No charges have been brought against the men, who the diplomats said belong to the obscure “Family of Love,” an offshoot of the better-known Children of God sect.
The reference to proselytizing apparently had to do with attempts to convert Muslims to Christianity.
Spokesmen for the three embassies would not name those held.
