Stanton : Bruckner to Temporarily Fill Manager’s Position

Roy Bruckner, city community development director, will take over as interim city manager until a replacement is selected for former manager Kevin O’Rourke, who takes over the reins at Buena Park City Hall on Friday.

The search for a permanent city manager has begun and a selection is expected to be announced next January or February. Bruckner, 36, who began working for Stanton as planning director in 1979, said: “I haven’t decided whether I’ll be throwing my hat in the ring.”

While serving as city manager, Bruckner will continue to work in his present position. “I’m not sure whether condolences or congratulations are in order,” he quipped.

O’Rourke, who was among 110 applicants for the Buena Park job, will continue to serve as a consultant to Stanton until a new manager is selected. Bruckner said his predecessor will work on such matters as upcoming employee negotiations.
