Iran said its warplanes hit an industrial area and troop concentrations in Iraq’s Misan province, inflicting “considerable casualties and losses.” It denied that one of its F-5 jet fighters was shot down in the raid, as Iraq has claimed. Iraq said its planes attacked Iran’s main oil terminal at Kharg Island in the Persian Gulf and hit a “large naval target”--a term used by Baghdad for a tanker. There was no independent confirmation of either side’s reports.
