United Press International
WASHINGTON —
The government posted a $27.08-billion budget deficit in October, the first month of fiscal 1986, about $922 million less than the same month in fiscal 1985, the Treasury Department reported Friday.
The government had revenues of $57.88 billion in October and spent $85.07 billion. A surplus of $106 million posted by so-called off-budget federal agencies, such as the Federal Financing Bank, the Postal Service and the Synthetic Fuels Corp. fund, brought the monthly deficit down to $27.08 billion.
