U.S. Men Stay Unbeaten in World Cup Volleyball

The United States men’s team remained unbeaten in the eight-nation World Cup volleyball tournament with a 15-11, 15-8, 15-0 victory over Egypt Wednesday.

Doug Partie led the United States (5-0 in the tournament) with two spikes, five blocks and one serve point before 6,500 spectators at Aichi Prefectural Gymnasium at Nagoya, in central Japan.

With Alexsander Savin, Yaroslav Antonov and Vladimir Shkurikhin scoring seven points apiece, the Soviet Union (4-1) overwhelmed Argentina, 15-3, 15-7, 15-11. Argentina is 2-3.

In Hiroshima, Czechoslovakia (4-1) scored a 17-15, 15-8, 6-15, 15-17, 15-8 victory over Brazil (2-3).

South Korea scored its first victory, beating Japan, 15-8, 15-9, 12-15, 9-15, 15-10. Japan is 2-3.
