Everson Retains Ms. Olympia Title

Corinna Everson of Woodland Hills scored a perfect 200 points to successfully defend her title in the Ms. Olympia professional body-building championships Saturday night.

A field of 23 competed in the international competition that includes competitors from Holland, Canada, West Germany and England.

The event, staged for the first time in New York, was witnessed by a crowd of 5,114, largest ever in the six-year history of the competition.

Everson, 26, collected $15,000. The scoring was done in four areas of competition: muscularity, general appearance, presentation and pose-down.

For the first time, the women were tested for steroids and everybody passed.

The runner-up was Mary Roberts, Santa Ana, followed by Diana Dennis, Huntington Beach, and Claire Furr of New Orleans.
