Mary Lou Retton, all-around gymnastics gold medalist in the 1984 Olympics who is undecided about competing in the 1988 Games in Korea, said she has been pressured by the U.S. Gymnastics Federation to give up the world of commercials and return to serious training.

“They want me to practice for another gold medal,” the 17-year-old Retton said. “It’s really too far off for me to think about that now. I know that I’ll have to drop most of the commercial endorsements if I go back. I’m sure companies would understand, but for now, I’m giving up nothing.”
