La Verne : University Given $162,763

Former University of La Verne Chancellor Richard G. Landis and his wife, Beth, have contributed $162,763 in R. J. Reynolds Industries Inc. common stock to the university. The gift will be used to establish a scholarship program in memory of Landis’ father, former university trustee John William Landis. Scholarship recipients will be selected on the basis of academic achievement, character and financial need. School officials say the gift is the largest single contribution made to endow a La Verne University scholarship fund.
