The U.S. government has asked Brazil to extradite a Taiwanese man sought in connection with the 1984 slaying of a Chinese-American journalist who was shot to death outside his Daly City home, an official at the U.S. Embassy in Rio de Janeiro said. Brazilian police arrested Tung Kuei Sen, 33, at the request of the U.S. government in September. Tung is wanted on a U.S. murder warrant in the killing of Henry Liu, 52, a writer for the Chinese-language San Francisco Journal. Earlier this year, a Taiwanese court sentenced two alleged Taiwanese gangsters to life in prison, one for murdering Liu and the other for masterminding the killing. Three senior Taiwan military intelligence officials, including the former head of the intelligence agency, were also sentenced to prison for their involvement in the case.
