The Soviet Communist Party newspaper Pravda published an unusual article that referred to the 1968 upheaval in Czechoslovakia. In the article, a senior writer recalled the 15th anniversary of the 1968 Czechoslovak Communist Party document that sealed the end of the “Prague Spring” reforms. The anniversary went unheralded both five and 10 years ago. The article was interpreted as Soviet emphasis on the need for East European loyalty to Moscow.
