Family of Costa Rica Ambassador Flees Fire

WASHINGTON —
Six members of the family of the Costa Rican ambassador and a cultural attache leaped from second-story windows to safety early Sunday when a fire raged through the embassy, authorities said.
Fire officials, who initially believed the embassy’s Christmas tree caused the fire, called the blaze suspicious. No other details were available. Ambassador Federico Vargas was in Costa Rica, officials said.
