‘Harnessing the Spirit’

Further to your editorial regarding the homeless, I believe it should be pointed out that the shelter to which you referred was built by the labor of union members who volunteered their time and their expertise to that project.

Union members also prepared and served Thanksgiving dinner at the Weingart Center on San Pedro Street and will prepare and serve Christmas dinner at the center.

Unions receive tremendous amounts of adverse publicity during strikes. I believe they should receive recognition in the media for the many positive, selfless contributions they make to the welfare of the community.
