Another line of mail order dolls is suspected of being contaminated by toxic chemicals, the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services reported. Department official Anastacio Medina said preliminary tests of six Komfy Kid dolls indicated that they were tainted with potentially dangerous chemicals similar to those found in 8,000 Little Prince and Outer Space Orphan dolls earlier this week. The chemicals have a kerosene-like odor. All three lines of dolls are manufactured in Taiwan, he said, and the Komfy Kid dolls are being offered for sale at $5 each by a New York-based mail order company, Abernathy & Closther. Medina said repeated attempts to contact the mail order company have failed.
