Cities’ Revenue Up Only a Little

WASHINGTON —
Revenue collected by the nation’s city governments has shown the smallest growth in more than two decades, the Census Bureau reported today.
The cities had total income, from all sources, of $134.5 billion in fiscal 1983-84, up $9.4 billion from the year before. But that increase of 7.5% was the smallest growth since 1962.
