Fighter From Coral Sea Missing in Mediterranean

NAPLES, Italy —
The U.S. 6th Fleet reported Wednesday that a fighter plane from the aircraft carrier Coral Sea was missing and believed lost in the Mediterranean.
A statement from 6th Fleet headquarters in Naples said the F-A18 twin-engine plane, assigned to Fighter Attack Squadron 314, was on a training mission near Nice, France, when it disappeared.
A search and rescue operation is continuing and an inquiry will be opened, the statement said.
