ARTS CENTER GIFTS TOP $123 MILLION

Share

The Orange County Performing Arts Center has raised $56.8 million for construction and $67 million for an operating endowment--a total of more than $123 million, according to the Center’s 1985 year-end campaign report.

The $56.8-million construction total puts the campaign $13.9 million short of the $70.7 million needed to build the Center’s 3,000-seat multipurpose theater and other opening-phase facilities.

The $67 million in gifts and “deferred pledges” for the operating endowment has far surpassed the original target of $20 million. Monies for this fund are usually derived from charitable trusts, life-estate agreements, will bequests and life insurance policies.

Also announced: the American Ballet Theatre for a one-week engagement in December and the New York City Opera for a two-week run in January, 1987.
