E. German Communist Party Expelled 63,000

EAST BERLIN — The East German Communist Party has expelled 63,000 members over the last five years, and another 25,000 have resigned, the party newspaper Neues Deutschland said Thursday.
A lengthy report on the party’s development said, however, that overall membership has risen by 121,000 to 2,194,585 among a population of 17 million.
