Caterpillar will continue producing the D6 in Iowa.

Mike Hengl, vice president of United Auto Workers Local 215, praised the news that Caterpillar Tractor won’t move production of its D6 tractor line from Davenport, Iowa, to Glasgow, Scotland. When Caterpillar announced in November, 1984, that it planned to move the D6 to Glasgow and production of track loaders to Grenoble, France, the union estimated that 300 to 500 jobs could be lost in Davenport. A company spokeswoman said that track loader production has been moved to Grenoble.
