U.S. to Sell Warplanes to Greece

WASHINGTON —
The United States has agreed to sell 40 F-16 jet warplanes to the Greek government after being promised that that country will keep tight control of the secret technology involved, the State Department said today.
The price and conditions of the sale are subject to further negotiations. Greece, which has been seeking a new-generation fighter craft to replace its aging Phantom jets, had also been looking at French Mirage jets.
