Security Tightened at Canada Airports

From Reuters

Security at airports in Canada’s three major cities was increased Thursday after unconfirmed reports of a plot by a Libyan sympathizer to plant a bomb on a jetliner bound for the United States this weekend.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police said it is investigating the reports, which caused “medium-level” security measures to be put into effect at the Ottawa, Montreal and Toronto international airports.

An Ottawa newspaper reported that the tightened security measures were prompted by a police hunt in Canada and the United States for a Libyan supporter who has threatened to plant a bomb on a jet leaving Ottawa for the United States.

Canadian officials refused to confirm or deny the report in the Ottawa Citizen.
