JERUSALEM — Israel on Sunday designated its unofficial envoy in Madrid to become its first ambassador to Spain, nine days after the two nations established full diplomatic relations.
The Cabinet’s announcement of Shmuel Hadas as ambassador-designate to Spain followed Madrid’s selection of its ambassador to Greece, Pedro Lopez Aguirrebengoa, to head the new Spanish Embassy in Tel Aviv.
The appointments are subject to the approval of the host governments. Both ambassador-designates are expected to receive routine approval, perhaps this week.
