TEL AVIV —
Israeli-backed Lebanese militiamen killed a Nepalese soldier of the United Nations’ force during fighting in south Lebanon, a U.N. spokesman said.
The Nepalese soldier, who was on a routine patrol in Kafra, was killed by a direct hit from a tank shell fired by members of the South Lebanon Army, the spokesman for the U.N. Interim Force in Lebanon, Timur Goksel, said Saturday.
Goksel said he was the 115th U.N. soldier and the fifth member of the Nepalese battalion killed in Lebanon.
