Bethlehem is raising the price of sheet steel piling.

The $30-per-ton increase, to $607 per ton, is the first since April, 1982. Because of intense competition, steel often is sold at prices lower than the listed price. But Bethlehem Steel said transaction prices for piling will rise $30 per ton simultaneously with the change in the listed price on March 2. Piling is used in construction and excavation.
