The husband of an astronaut from Mill Valley, Calif., originally scheduled for Tuesday’s ill-fated shuttle flight said he had an “astute premonition” that disaster would strike.

George Fulford, a United Airlines pilot, said he told his wife, astronaut Millie Hughes-Fulford, on Monday afternoon that he was “glad you’re not on that flight.” Hughes-Fulford, 39, who moved to Houston for her shuttle training, was unavailable for comment.
